ZERO DARK NADA? Obama, Osama, Lotta Lotta Drama

Seymour M. Hersh's place in history was preserved decades ago when he broke the news on the My Lai massacre in 1969, a story which turned public disapproval of the Vietnam War into public horror.
Now Mr. Hersh has come through again and blown the lid on the jewel of the Obama diadem, the assassination of Osama bin Laden.  For those of you just tuning in, the narrative created by the White House was used to generate the vomitous pornographic film ZERO DARK THIRTY, boost Obama's military credentials against Mitt Romney, and create a viable excuse for torture.  Now Hersh tell us that no such logic exists, that instead the entire genesis for the operation came from some guy just walking into the US embassy in Islamabad and telling the CIA station chief he would trade bin Laden for the cash bounty put on the terrorist leader's head after 9/11.  Oh, and on the topic of leadership, bin Laden was doing absolutely nothing at the point when he was killed except being held prisoner by the Pakistanis in the compound he was killed at!  Unfortunately, it would seem the only people who will make political capital out of this will be the even more sickening GOP, who will probably be able to use this as a further foil to the Clinton campaign and give us Bush 3.0.
In the meantime, here is Hersh on Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman talking about the 47th anniversary of My Lai.

Nixon was the most dishonest individual I have ever met in my life. He lied to his wife, his family, his friends, his colleagues in the Congress, lifetime members of his own political party, the American people and the world.  -Barry Goldwater
